The Twelve Days of Leesburg NSFW

Give enough people enough signs and enough time, and who knows what they'll come up with

"Merry FCUKing Christmas, Leesburg!"

That's the cheerful holiday message one Loudoun County resident will be sending to all, as the controversy of the county's holiday displays comes to its naturally illogical conclusion.

In November, the county banned the longtime practice of putting up a Christmas tree at the county courthouse in Leesburg.  For more than 50 years, the Rotary Club in town had placed a Christmas tree, but a county committee decided that they were receiving too many requests for displays, so it decided to end them all.

Up came the backlash, and this week, the county responded, reports Leesburg TodayLoudoun supervisors met and decided upon new regulations and rules for public displays on county courthouse grounds.

So the Christmas tree is back.  So is the nativity scene. And so is the pro-Atheism banner.

One application would place a giant banner near the nativity which says, "At This Season of the Winter Solstice, May Reason Prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural World. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."

Festive!

But that's not the best one.

Edward Myers of Sugarland Run is asking to have three signs placed at the Courthouse, in time for the holiday parade.  His idea is a parody (of sorts) of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" -- only there aren't many turtle doves here.

His revisions: "12 master debaters, 11 cunning linguists, 10 percent jobless, 9 niggardly noobs, 8-speech as gay tweets, 7 teabagger tools, 6-ting safety screws, 5 birther-control rings, 4 sucky health care, 3-dom disappearing, 2 many bills and a red FCUK to you too."  (The FCUK is the trademark of French Connection United Kingdom.)

And a Merry Christmas to you too, Mr. Myers!
