Hundreds of D.C. travelers might have been exposed to measles while at Reagan National Airport last week.
A person infected with measles was in Terminal C on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Health officials are contacting everyone who was on the plane with the infected person. However, they believe others in the airport may have also been exposed.
Measles is spread through coughing, sneezing and any other secretions from the nose, mouth or throat.
Symptoms sometimes take up to 3 weeks to develop. An infected person first develops a fever of up to 101 degrees or more as well as a runny nose, watery red eyes and a cough. Several days later, a rash appears on the face and then spreads to the whole body.
