It Happened Again: Police Seek Witness to 2nd Fatal I-66 Crash
Mattress in roadway causes crash

FAIRFAX -- Virginia State Police are asking anyone who witnessed a fatal crash on Interstate 66 on Monday night for help.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 11 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near the Route 243, or Nutley Street, exit in Fairfax County.
A mattress was laying in the roadway on I-66 and a box truck swerved to avoid hitting it, police said. An SUV traveling behind the truck was not as lucky and hit the mattress, then ran off the side of the road and hit the truck. The vehicle then overturned before striking a guardrail, then coming to rest in a wooded area just off the hghway.
The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car. The woman, Kritika Singh, of Fairfax, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male passenger, Vjjwal Joshi, of Fairfax, was wearing a seat belt and was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Richard R. Moon, 58, of Herndon, Va., was not injured in the crash.
According to witnesses, a light-colored, older model conversion van was seen parked off to the side of the interstate near the crash scene at the time of the crash. State police would like to speak to the man driving this van as a possible witness.
