BETHESDA, Md. -- The reward for information that leads to an arrest or indictment in the shooting of a man in his Bethesda garage last month has increased to up to $36,000.

Police have also released a picture of the ski mask the gunman was believed to have been wearing.

Crime Solvers of Montgomery County president Kathleen Timmons said Friday that anonymous donations have been placed into a fund for a reward in the shooting of 54-year-old Ashoka Mody, who is still recovering from serious injuries in the hospital.

Montgomery County police said Mody was alone in his car when he arrived at his Millwood Road home on Oct. 8. He was shot inside the home's attached garage.

Police said the masked shooter, who was wearing dark clothing, was last seen running from Mody's driveway.

At a press conference Friday, Mody's wife, Jyothsna Mody, described her husband as "hard working" and pleaded for anyone to come forward with information related to the case.

“No one can understand why anything like this could possibly have happened to him,” said Jyothsna Mody.

Mody is an economist with the International Monetary Fund. Investigators said they do not believe the attack is connected to Mody's position at the bank.
