WASHINGTON -- A double homicide suspect died after he was shot by police in southeast D.C. Wednesday morning.
Prince George's County police were assisting Anne Arundel County detectives' search for the suspect when they attempted a traffic stop, police said. The driver stopped and got out, but the suspect, who was in the passenger's seat, moved over and drove away.
Police chased him through Prince George's County and into D.C., where the pursuit ended at Minnesota Avenue and Ridge Road.
The suspect got out of the car brandishing a handgun, and police shot him several times. Police shot the suspect several times. He later died at an area hospital.
Anne Arundel County police sought the suspect, 51-year-old Theodore Blandford, after finding his wife, Sheena Blandford, and sister-in-law, Cheryl Timmons dead from gunshot wounds in Lothian Wednesday morning. Theodore Blandford's wife had a protective order issued against him two weeks ago.
Blandford also was suspected in an armed robbery and a burglary.
Nine officers were involved in the shooting and are on administrative leave. None was injured.
