Georgetown University’s McDonough Hall on Monday night hosted a screening of a documentary called “Living for 32,” a 40-minute documentary chronicling the experience of Colin Goddard.
Goddard, 25, was one of the survivors of the mass shooting at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. That was the fateful day when gunman Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 students and teachers and injured another 17.
The gunman targeted Goddard three times. He took four bullets but survived and became an advocate for stronger gun laws.
In the film, Goddard takes offense to those who say that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“I was in the right place at the right time," he said. "I was in class.”
In “Living for 32,” Goddard goes undercover across the country. He shows how easy it is to buy firearms at gun shows with no background check.
The film played at the Sundance Film Festival last month. It is now on a tour of universities and other venues to bring its message of more sensible gun laws to all who will watch.
