Pepco Planned Outage Turns Lights Out at Lincoln Memorial

A planned power outage by Pepco will affect the Lincoln Memorial and nearby streets on Wednesday from around midnight to 6 a.m., according to the National Park Service.

The Park Service said the Lincoln Memorial will be closed to the public during this time and some traffic and street lights on Constitution and Independence avenues and 17th Street will also be affected.

The District’s Department of Transportation will supply portable generators to help keep traffic lights operational and Park Police will be on site to keep traffic flowing safely, according to the Park Service.

The lights will be out at the Lincoln Memorial, but Park Police will be patrolling the area.
