WASHINGTON -- Howard University students are hitting the new school year running with a big protest outside the administration building.
Chanting "We want change," more than 200 students turned out for the student association's demonstration against poor customer service Friday.
Many students have complained they've been unable to get housing and their financial aid packages, according to the student association's director of media relations.
The group's list of 15 demands also included updates to entrances and elevators to make them all compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Wi-Fi, 24-hour access to the library, and recycling.
"We take the concerns raised by our students very seriously, and the university is committed to providing a high quality education first rate student support services," Howard representatives said in a statement.
Later Friday, student leadership met with the Office of the Provost. A follow up meeting with the president was planned for next week.
Another protest was held Thursday night outside the chapel.
