GW to Offer Gender Neutral Housing

Students at George Washington University will have a few more housing options next school year.

The school will offer gender neutral housing starting with the 2011 fall semester. The plan allows male and female students to share the same room or to have adjacent rooms with a shared common area.

The new plan comes from a student proposal, and after looking at the idea with administrators, parents and other students, the Residence Hall Association allowed the plan.

The plan is completely voluntary and can be implemented in any dorm except for the female-only Strong Hall, Merriweather Hall and 2109 F Street.

David Glidden, president of the Residence Hall Association, said this plan helps kids experience "an extremely beneficial and meaningful part of student life at GW."
