Leave your pets at home. That is the message from the Humane Society, which is reminding inauguration visitors that all animals, excluding service dogs, will be prohibited from entering inaugural event sites.
With more than one million people expected to attend next week's ceremonies, the Humane Society is worried that animals may be injured in the massive crowds.
The Humane Society's emergency veterinary services vehicle and a vehicle capable of sheltering more than 100 animals will both be on hand near the National Mall should any animal issues arise.
Society staff will be stationed among the crowd to assist service vehicles and police horses.
