The big constant up at the North American Auto Show this week has been fuel economy and electric vehicles.
And now, if you want to jump on the green car bandwagon, there is a place in D.C. to charge up.
On Wednesday morning, Tesla Motors, the maker of the Tesla Roadster, helped to open the first residential electric car-charging station in D.C. The station has been installed at the 425 Mass Apartments by the Car Charging Group, Inc.
“We are proud to be the first in D.C. to provide this modern, environmentally friendly amenity to our residential community,” said Robert Grealy, Vice President of Equity Residential, the company that owns 425 Mass. “With the advent of the new generation of electric cars, it is increasingly important to provide a charging infrastructure for apartment residents who share a common garage.”
The Car Charging Group, Inc. estimates about 40 million plug-in electric vehicles will be on the road by 2030, including the Tesla Roadster.
The Roadster was also available for test drives during the opening ceremony.
