Confused Floridian Monster Spotted in Susquehanna
Manatee "Ilya" chillin' in cooler area waters

A new manatee sighting, everyone! Gather the children!
Yes, the Mid-Atlantic's most recent favorite sea cow is wading in wacky waters again! The evil monster "Ilya," a manatee "based in" Miami -- where he works as an actuary -- was spotted in the Susquehanna River on Wednesday and photographed, naked. Ilya was last seen over the weekend in the Chesapeake Bay near Havre de Grace.
Florida Manatees usually do not care for the colder waters of the Chesapeake, but sometimes, during the hot summer months, anything goes! As everyone remembers, one nutty manatee kept swimming back-and-forth from Miami to the Chesapeake for years. It even earned itself the nickname of an ancient monster, Chessie, of whom everyone was terrified back in the '30s.
The Susquehanna empties into the Chesapeake Bay from the north, so who knows how far this Ilya clown will keep swimming before it gets bored and heads back to South Beach.
The clock is ticking, though!
Manatees are seen almost every year in the Chesapeake, and Ilya doesn't appear to be in any danger, although they can die if they don't return to warmer waters in the fall.
Maybe someone should tell the manatee about this?
