Chilling Video Captures Jacks' Demon-Possession Tale

Woman convicted in daughters' deaths claimed they were possessed

WASHINGTON -- In a chilling videotaped interview with D.C. homicide detectives, Banita Jacks talks about the demons that possessed her daughters and that they died in their sleep.

Jacks was convicted Wednesday of torturing and murdering her four daughters in her Southeast home. Included in the evidence in that trial was a six-hour long interview with detectives, News4's Pat Collins reported.

"I could not never have hurt a child in my life," Jacks said in the interview. "I would not. I know what your evidence is saying, but that is not what happened."

She told detectives that she didn't seek helps when her daughters didn't wake up because she knew their deaths would mean trouble for herself.

At the trial, the prosecution presented evidence that three of the girls were strangled and one was stabbed.

Jacks could get life without parole when she is sentenced on October 16. She tried to get that moved to another date because Oct. 16 was her baby daughter's birthday, Collins reported.
