Lawmakers in Virginia have given final approval to a bill allowing people to carry concealed handguns into places where alcohol is served.
The measure passed the State House of Delegates 72-27. It now goes to the Gov. Bob McDonnell, who is expected to sign it.
Similar bills have passed the legislature before but have always been vetoed by a Democratic governor.
The law forbids those who pack heat from drinking.
Bringing firearms into places where people are drinking will lead to tragedy, opponents said.
The new law will allow law-abiding citizens to defend themselves, supporters argued.
