Abdul Kudsy is accused of sexually abusing the autistic boy he was hired to take care of.
Montgomery County Police Department

BETHESDA, Md. -- A man hired to take care of an autistic 11-year-old boy was accused of sexually abusing the child.

A Bethesda family hired 61-year-old Abdul Mohamed Kudsy in September to help the boy in social situations and to watch over him, Montgomery County police said. On Dec. 29, police began investigating allegations that Kudsy engaged in inappropriate contact with the boy and also photographed him while he was partially clothed.

The family reported the allegations to Children Achieving Maximum Potential, the advocacy group that referred Kudsy to the boy's family. That group reported Kudsy to Child and Family Services.

Kudsy was arrested Friday. He is charged with sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of third-degree sexual offense. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
