Detectives Arrange Funeral for Abandoned Newborn
Abandoned girl laid to rest

A funeral was held Monday for a baby girl abandoned in Prince George's County last month.
No family attended the service for Maria Del Pilar, but homicide detectives gathered at Resurrection Cemetery to mourn her loss.
Maria was found in a field off New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park. She was just hours old when she died.
The girl's mother is suspected in her death.
Services for the funeral were donated by members of the community.
