The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Skating Rink
Where: Located 3 blocks from Metro Center at 7th Street and Constitution Ave NW at the National Gallery of Art

When To Go: The rink opens Nov.15 and stays open through mid-March 2009. View sculptures while skating in the open air and enjoying music from the state-of-the-art sound system. Rates: Two-hour skate sessions are available ($7 for adults, $6 for children) along with skate and locker rentals.
What’s Close By: This ice skating rink is near the White House, the Ellipse where the National Christmas Tree and Pageant of Peace are located during the Holiday season.

Pershing Park Ice Rink
Where: Located at 14th & Pennsylvania Avenues, NW
When To Go: Opens Saturday, Nov. 20
Rates: For 2 hour sessions, $6.50 for adults and $5.50 for children under 12.
What’s Close By: Skate right next to the White House on Pennsylvania Ave.

Fort Dupont Ice Arena
Where: Fort Dupont Ice Arena is an indoor rink within the city at 3779 Ely Place SE.
When To Go: Open June through March.
Rates: For 12 years old and under $4 for a 1 hour 20 minute session. Those over 13 years old, $5 per session. The skate arena provides skate sessions, equipment rentals and learn-to-skate programs for children ages 5 to 18.
What’s Close By: Southeast D.C.’s Fort Dupont Park.

Pentagon Row Outdoor Ice Skating
Where: Located in the Plaza at1201 South Joyce Street in Arlington, Va.
When To Go: Open mid-October until March 2009.
Rates: Per session, adults: $8, children under 12: $7, senior citizens 55 and up: $7. $3 skate rentals available.
What’s Close By: Skate by the Pentagon at this outdoor ice rink.

Reston Town Center Pavilion and Ice Rink
Where: Only 30 minutes away from D.C. in Reston Town Center at 11900 Market Street, Reston, Va.
When To Go: Open Nov.1 through the second week of March.
Rates: $9 for adults, $7 for children under 12 and senior citizens for ice skating sessions all day. $4 ice skate rentals and other supplies are available inside of the Skate Shop.
What’s Close By: After skating enjoy the rest of the Town Center shops and dining

Herbert W. Wells Ice Rink
Where: 5211 Calvert, College Park, Maryland.
When To Go: Open for ice-skating from October through March. During the summer, the facility is used for roller-skating.
Rates: Adult prices are $5 to $6 per session and children (17 years & under) are $4. $2 skate rentals available.
What’s Close By: Only 20 minutes away from D.C. and located nearby the University of Maryland.
