Washington Hospital Center Nurses Vote to Strike

Washington Hospital Center is prepared to bring in replacements if its nurses go on strike, officials said.

The nurses voted over the weekend to stage a one-day strike.

According to the union, they are protesting against the firing of 18 nurses who did not report to work during last February's snowstorm. The nurses are now demanding those who were fired be brought back and that disciplinary action against others be rescinded.

The date of the strike will be announced later this week. It must be announced 10 days in advance.
