Maryland teens that love to tan may just have to deal with being pale.

New legislation is being considered by the state General Assembly that would prohibit anyone under 18 from using tanning beds in Maryland.

Representatives from the American Academy of Dermatology Association, the Maryland Coalition for the Prevention of Skin Cancer, and the American Cancer Society are scheduled to testify before lawmakers on Wednesday.

Howard County already bans anyone under 18 from using tanning beds.  Local lawmakers passed that bill last November.

Last summer, the World Health Organization’s cancer division listed tanning beds as definitive cancer-causers.
