Olympians Share Their Inspiring Stories at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo

In 2011, Michelle Konkoly suffered an injury that could have ended more than her career as a standout student-athlete at Georgetown University.

As she tried to adjust her dorm-room window, which wasn't working, she fell five stories. She suffered traumatic spinal cord injuries, and her doctors thought she wouldn't walk again.

But today, Konkoly is training for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -- and holds several Paralympic records.

"I can't wait for Rio!" Konkoly says. " I want to show kids that you only ‘lose’ when you quit. I am
proof of that. You can’t lay down and give up, you have to sit up, stand up, fight, and keep moving forward in life."

You can meet Konkoly and hear her inspiring story at the 2016 NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo, where several Olympic athletes are speaking.
