Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair to Be Held Friday

Attention, all veteran job seekers, active duty military members, guard and reserve members, and military spouses: Join NBC4, GE, Capital One, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and our partners for a special job fair before our Expo.

The 2015 Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair will be held Friday, Jan. 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW. A job-hunting workshop begins at 9 a.m.; the job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the fair, veteran employees of GE will conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants. Mentoring sessions focus on resume building; resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants.

A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop. Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).

This hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, NBC4, NBC News, the Department of Labor Veterans - Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the United States Army Reserve (USAR), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, and other local partners.
