Birth Control Pill Recalled

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling some batches of its birth control brands due to a packaging error that could result in women taking the pills in the wrong order.

"Some blister packs of the birth control pills were rotated 180 degrees within the card, which reverses the weekly tablet distribution," reports WebMd.com.

This mistake could lead women to ingest the levels of hormones in a given week, which could lead to unintended pregnancy.

Brands involved in the recall include certain lots of Cyclafem, Emoquette and Previfem. See the complete list of brands, lots and other information here (PDF).

Those affected by the recall should switch to a non-hormonal form of birth control immediately, and call their doctor or pharmacist. Pharmacies that distributed the affected pills are contacting customers to warn them.
