Boscov's calls itself the country's largest family-owned department store chain, in business for over 91 years, with 39 stores in five states across the Mid-Atlantic region.
But three Maryland stores that had closed under previous Boscov's ownership, were recently auctioned off.
Those stores went up for auction earlier this month. Alex Cooper Auctioneers said it was a foreclosure sale.
But, Boscov's shoppers, not to fear. The company reports a 10% increase in sales.
"A sales increase of this size runs counter to what's happening in the industry where most stores are happy just to meet last year's figures,"Chairman and CEO Albert Boscov said.
In addition to stores in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, there are three Maryland locations that are still in business. They're located in Frederick, Salisbury and Westminister. So, Boscov's shoppers, shop on.
