Workers in Arlington County earn $102,373, on average, according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
According to the Washington Business Journal, only wage-earners in Manhattan had a higher average salary, out of 331 counties with more than 100,000 people in the work force.
Right behind Arlington was the District of Columbia. According to the study, the average income was $98,246, ranking third on the best-compensated county list.
Workers in both Fairfax and Alexandria in Virginia had average incomes higher than $80,000.
The lowest paid in the survey was Cameron County, Texas, on the Mexican border. Workers there on average earned a measly $35,691 annually.
