Man Struck By Train at Metro Center

D.C. Fire and EMS confirmed there was a technical rescue for a man trapped under a train at Metro Center Wednesday afternoon.

Metro warned of delays on the Orange and Blue lines because of a person struck by a Largo-bound Blue Line train before 1 p.m. Trains single-tracked between McPherson Square and Federal Triangle, but normal service resumed before 3 p.m.

Witnesses saw the man place himself in the path of an oncoming train, Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates said.

The man has since been removed from under the train, Gates said. He has been transported to a local hospital but his condition is unknown, the Associated Press reported.
