Maryland Woman Missing in Aruba

A woman from Maryland disappeared in Aruba last week.

Robyn Gardner, of Frederick, was last seen Aug. 2 at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino in Oranjestad, according to the Natalee Holloway Resource Center.

The 35-year-old disappeared on a snorkeling trip at Nanki in the Colony, the Aruba Herald reported.

The prosecutor’s office in Aruba said a man being detained was traveling with Gardner, the Associated Press reported. Gary V. Giordano went snorkeling with her and was the man who reported her missing, spokeswoman Ann Angela said. Police detained him Friday as he attempted to leave Aruba. He is being investigated on suspicion of involvement in Gardner’s disappearance, Angela said.

Gardner stands 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has blond hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on her rib cage, right bicep and left arm from the back of her shoulder to her elbow.

Her boyfriend contacted the Natalee Holloway Resource Center, which operates out of the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in D.C.

Anyone with information about the case should contact Aruba authorities at 011-297-597-5201.  A Facebook group also has been established to help find Gardner.
