That's one harsh bong hit.

Eight people have been arrested in connection to a photo that surfaced showing Michael Phelps smoking a bong at a party  -- including the owner of the bong who tried to hawk the paraphernalia on eBay for $100,000, a television station reported.

Seven were charged with drug possession and one with distribution, WIS10 in South Carolina reported.

The owner of the bong that Phelps allegedly used at the University of South Carolina party in November tried to sell the paraphernalia on eBay for $100,000. Cops told the station that they confiscated the bong.

Phelps got into hot water when photos showing him smoking a bong were published in a British tabloid.

Dozens of students attended the booze-filled party where Phelps was photographed and reportedly saw the Olympic champion toking up and watched him plunk down a $2,000 bet over a high-stakes game of beer pong, The State newspaper of South Carolina reported.

A female University of South Carolina student told the paper that sometime after midnight she saw a woman snap a picture of Phelps smoking a bong with her camera phone. It's unclear if that is the picture that surfaced in the tabloid on Feb. 1, and the identity of the photographer remains unknown.
