Fox says it's made no decision on controversial episode

  • "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane revealed that it's unlikely Fox will air a controversial episode about abortion in the upcoming season of the popular animated series. The network said no decision has been made. If Fox did reject the episode, it would be the second time the network canned an episode. The "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" episode in 2000 was given the axe.
     
  • An astronaut who spent six months on the international space station said he could see the effects of "human destruction" on the planet. Canadian astro Bob Thirsk said the ice caps have melted since he last saw the planet from space 12 years ago. "Most of the time when I look out the window I'm in awe," he said. "But there are some effects of the human destruction of the Earth as well. " 
     
  • The 2000 Census was too high for the first time in history. There were 10.2 million people that were missed from the total but nearly 11.6 million were doubly counted. The census is used to determine representation in government and federal funding -- and the bureau is spending millions to publicize the 2010 tally and partnering with bilingual groups to make sure the double counting error doesn't happen again.
     
  • Pirate activity is expected to peak off the coast of Somalia in the next few weeks. The culprit? Nice weather. The monsoon season is slated to end in four to six weeks and the U.S. Navy anticipates a spike in pirate attacks. Currently, the seafaring thieves are holding about a dozen ships as they await ransom payments.
