A scientist claims he has found a cure for hangovers. He uses an altered yeast known as MLo1 that eliminates compounds responsible for headaches in red and a number of white wines. It took the Canadian researcher 16 years to come up with the genetically modified yeast that eliminates the headache-inducing properties, but many purists feel there is no artisanal quality to wine with modified ingredients.
The periodic table is getting a new element. Element 122, temporarily called "ununbium," is one of the heaviest in the periodic table. Scientists found the element more than a decade ago but its existence had only now been proven through extensive testing. The German researchers who discovered the element are responsible with giving it a permanent name.
Venezuela has banned Coke Zero from the country citing unspecified health dangers. The government has cracked down on businesses in recent months but is considered one of the most Americanized country in Latin America. The nation's health minister didn't say what health risks were posed by Coke Zero and Coca-Cola had not responded to requests.
Archaeologists combing a site opened up by an earthquake in Mexico City is believed to house the first tomb of an Aztec ruler. If the site is as significant as researchers believe it to be, it could yield what has been described as a once-in-a-generation find laden with treasure.
