After walking out of the Texas School Book Depository and riding a city bus for less than half a mile, Oswald walked through downtown Dallas and past the presidential motorcade route.

At Commerce and Lamar streets, near the Greyhound Bus Station, Oswald is believed to gone to a cabstand to hire a driver.  ††

Cabdriver William W. Whaley then drove Oswald from downtown Dallas to within a few blocks of his rooming house in nearby Oak Cliff.

From there, Oswald is presumed to have walked the final few blocks to his room at 1026 N. Beckley Avenue.
