Panel Recommends Taking Credit Cards From Montgomery County School Board

Montgomery County school board members are poised to lose their taxpayer-funded credit cards after a News4 I-Team investigation revealed a recent series of controversial expenses by board members and administrators.

The expenses included pricey meals, including lobster, filet mignon and sea bass, and at least two board members used their cards for D.C. hotel rooms for conferences that were only a Metro ride away from district headquarters.

Tuesday a panel recommended the board be stripped of its cards and set new limits on how much board members spend on out-of-town travel.

The school board will now vote on whether to eliminate those credit cards.
