DC Man Called in Bomb Threat to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in February

A man accused of calling in a bomb threat to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in February will appear in court next week.

Jemel Brown of Washington, D.C., threatened to detonate explosives if the base’s bowling alley wasn’t evacuated within minutes on Feb. 1, federal agents said.

The base was conducting its annual training drills for suspicious packages and bombs that day.

Brown pleaded not guilty. A judge will decide Wednesday whether to hold Brown in D.C. Jail pending his appearance in court Aug. 4.

Requests for comment from the base and Brown’s lawyer were not immediately returned.
