  • PHARMACIST Thursday, Jan 1 at 3:03 PM FLAG COMMENT A large scoop of powdered Gatorade before you go to bed is the penultimate thing to do. If you take an Ibuprofen or aspirin (antiinflamatory) before you crash, along with the powdered Gatorade (and very little water) you will be all set. The Ibuprofen reduces the swelling in your brain caused by the alcohol and dehyration. The dry powdered Gatorade replenishes the electrolytes you've been peeing out all night. The reason you take it dry? You have been pouring fluids down your throat all night, the alcohol causes you to pee (it inhibits anti-diuretic hormone). The dry powder (ie; electrolytes) needs to be diluted by your body, you need all that extra fluid you drank to do this. Bottom line: stops the brain swelling (headache), replaces electrolytes, and best of all you do not have to get up in the middle of the night to pee, stagger, fall, bump into stuff. You may wake up tried (lack of slleep) but you feel OK. PS: do not do this if you have health conditions like CHF or Diabetes, etc ... MORE >
