The Washington Redskins avoided starting the season 0-2, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in their home opener by a 41-10 score Sunday.
Yet that victory was unfortunately overshadowed by injuries to Robert Griffin III and DeSean Jackson, both of whom were forced out of the game.
Griffin, as detailed here, suffered a left ankle injury rolling to his right prior to a completion to Jackson late in the first quarter. The quarterback was ultimately carted off the field and replaced by Kirk Cousins, who completed his first 12 passes and finished 22-for-33 for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
It has widely reported that Griffin dislocated his ankle on the play.
Meanwhile, Jackson left the game with a shoulder injury after attempting to catch a deep pass from Cousins. He was hit as the ball arrived and landed hard on his left shoulder. News4's Dianna Russini is reporting that Jackson's shoulder is sprained. Updates will be provided after the game.
In more uplifting news, Washington's pass rush was dominant, sacking Jacksonville quarterback Chad Henne 10 times, a Jaguars franchise record for sacks allowed. The Redskins, led by Ryan Kerrigan's four sacks, tied a team record for most accrued in a single game.
Aflred Morris gained a total of 85 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, while Niles Paul caught eight balls for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The win snapped the Redskins' nine-game losing streak that stretched back to last season. It was the longest active skid in the NFL entering Sunday.
