Video Gamers United Convention in D.C. This Weekend

Embark on a journey to far-flung worlds and high-tech battlefields this weekend, all without leaving the District.

The Video Gamers United convention brings the world of gaming to the heart of D.C., with a diverse lineup of gaming tournaments, interactive displays and panel discussions.

The event will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can spend some time in the free arcade or check out panel discussions that tackle issues relevant to gaming's future. Topics include women in gaming, careers in the industry and the application of video games to forensic science.

Several guests will include voice actors, video game designers and industry professionals.

A highlight for many visitors will be several gaming tournaments with cash prizes, including a "Call of Duty: Ghosts" tournament with a $20,000 grand prize. To enter the tournaments, visitors must purchase a special event ticket.

Tickets are $40 for one day and $75 for two days, and children under 10 years old can attend free. Tournament entry, which includes access to the convention, and VIP tickets are also available. Check out the Video Gamers United ticketing page for more information.
