Prince's 1980s Backing Band the Revolution to Play Fillmore Silver Spring

Just over a year after Prince's death, the band that backed the legendary pop star during his mid-1980s "Purple Rain" era will perform in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., this spring.

The Revolution announced a handful of tour dates on its Facebook page, including April 27 at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Three of Prince's 1980s album were credited to Prince and the Revolution: "Purple Rain," "Around the World in a Day" and "Parade."

The lineup changed over the years, but Billboard reports this tour features Lisa Coleman ("Wendy?") on keyboard, Wendy Melvoin ("Yes, Lisa.") on guitar, bassist Brownmark, keyboardist Matt "Dr." Fink (Please wear the scrubs!) and drummer Bobby Z. That's the same lineup that backed Prince in the movie "Purple Rain."

The band played a few shows last year after Prince's death April 21.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m.
