National Zoo Pandas to Celebrate Birthdays Saturday

    Bao Bao celebrates her first birthday in 2013.

    Three of the National Zoo's giant pandas are celebrating birthdays this month, and to celebrate, the zoo will hold a joint birthday party Saturday.

    Bei Bei, the youngest of the National Zoo's pandas, will be celebrating his first birthday. His big sister, Bao Bao, is turning 3, and the duos dad, Tian Tian, is celebrating his 19th birthday. 

    From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can hang around the exhibit and watch animal demonstrations, according to the National Zoo.

    At 1 p.m., visitors can watch as the giant pandas devour frozen birthday "cakes.”

    The Chinese Embassy will offer guests a complimentary tasting of Dan Dan noodles, a cold dish from the Sichuan province, home of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
