Maryland Seafood Festival Features Crab Soup Cookoff and Extreme Pogo Stunts

If you're from Maryland, you're probably well versed in crab cuisine. But have you ever tasted 25 different crap soups in one sitting?

The Capital Crab Soup Cook-off is just one of many events happening at The Maryland Seafood Festival in Sandy Point State Park  (1100 E. College Parkway, Annapolis, Maryland), the weekend of Sept. 12-13.

Along with a wide selection of crab soup, beer and oyster tasting is offered both days, and the fests's Wine Row features Maryland wineries.

Foodie Treasures From the Bay will feature venues such as Costas Inn, Laughing Crab Catering, Jimmy's Famous Seafood and Nader's Bistro and Grill selling their Chesapeake delights.

Into creating your own yummies? Williams-Sonoma is offering cooking classes as a VIP special.

Get active with life-size foosball on the beach, ziplining, yoga and stand-up paddleboard demonstrations all weekend.

Kids and parents can enjoy a pogo stick stunt show, when people fly, dive and perform tricks on pogo sticks, or a crab race derby.

On Sunday, before the park opens, the Paddle for Betterment event will offer a friendly paddle obstacle course competition to raise money for the Foundation for Community Betterment. There is a registration fee, but registration includes admission to the festival.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday; find specific event times here.

Tickets are $15 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger. Special discounts and VIP packages are available. Anne Arundel Community College will be offering $5 parking and a free shuttle to the event. Onsite parking is $10 and must be ordered in advance.
