Herndon's First Outdoor Bar & Restaurant Under Construction

New law allows establishments to compete with other jurisdictions

Herndon's infamous "wingman" is spreading his wings.

Jimmy Cirrito, owner of Jimmy's Old Town Tavern, is the first business owner in Herndon to take advantage of the new law allowing outdoor bars in the town.

But for Jimmy's, the renovation project isn't as simple as it might seem.

The current facilities are too small to accommodate the change, and it includes several buildings which are historic.

Cirrito hopes the project will be finished in 2016.

Fans of Jimmy and the restaurant, along with corporate sponsors, are are helping raise money for the renovations by buying bricks that will be used in the new construction, along with hats, t-shirts and other items.

Visit Jimmy's fund-raising site to see details of the project and get some goodies by sponsoring the renovations.
