We can't go to the city of lights, but we can bring it to us.
Next week Georgetown will host its own Festival of Lights, AKA the Fete des Lumieres Georgetown, inspired by the world-renowned one in Lyon, France.
Four international artists will be using lights as the basis for their art exhibits in an eight-day event (Dec. 13-Dec- 20) set to coincide with the second annual Georgetown Holiday Window Competition.
The Georgetown Business Improvement District is partnering with Alliance Francaise and several other cultural organizations to sponsor the light festival and effectively position the lights.
You'll find it the displays in key spots throughout Georgetown (see website for specific locations).
Everything from creepily lit mannequins in whimsical poses, to interactive video projections, to artistic displays of constellations inspired by NASA satellite imagery will be on display at the festival. Art Soiree and other local artists will also be participating.
Art Soiree will throw an opening night party at Malmaison (3401 K St. NW; $10 cover) featuring video art installations, projections, a DJ and more.
