More than 100 jazz artists and performance groups are rolling into town for the weeklong D.C. Jazz Festival, June 10-16. From Grammy Award winners such as Esperanza Spalding to acoustic jazz groups such as the Cookers, the fest is the perfect way to introduce your ears to new sounds.

Every day of the week has several jazz events at local restaurants, hotels and other spots around D.C. Below, we've listed how the events are organized and included a sneak peek at some of the artists.

The Hamilton Live (600 14th St. NW) runs seven nights of performances June 10-16. Acts include NEA Jazz Master Paquito D'Rivera, the Bad Plus Trio and Grammy Award-winning Snarky Puppy.

Jazz in the 'Hoods is a huge partnership with more than 45 venues around the city, including local clubs, restaurants, hotels, galleries and community centers June 6-16. You could meet harpist Edmar Castaneda at the NYU/DC Abramson Family Auditorium (1307 L St. NW) or listen to Music in the Courtyard at the Gallery on H (1354 H St. NE). Participating locations include the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, Twins Jazz and Jojo's Restaurant and Grill.

D.C. Jazzfest at The Yards is a waterfront option for a jazz venue, as artists will be playing in The Yards Park (355 Water St. SE), June 12-13. Esperanza Spalding will perform, along with Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Common.This is an exclusive event with food tasting, wine and a marketplace.

There is no general admission for the festival and most performances are free. Some performances do take place in restaurants, which might entice you to buy some food to munch on during the music.
