Crews Drain Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

Crews are draining the Lincoln Memorial's reflecting pool for an annual cleaning.

The work, originally scheduled for last week, began Thurday, National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst said.

The work is expected to take between 30 and 60 days.

The reflecting pool is more than 150 wide and more than 2,000 feet long. It contains 6.7 million gallons of water.
