Amelia Earhart on Neptune? "Little Women" told in rap? Songs about the Dust Bowl? These are just a few of performances hitting the District in July as part of the Capital Fringe Festival.

The goal of the fest: Expose the District to a diverse range of artists and performers, which means starting Thursday through July 31, you can see comedy, dance, theater, music, visual art and other genres at 20 venues.

Take a history lesson by watching local Americana and folk artists sing about the Dust Bowl in "Rain Follows the Plow." Enjoy a mix of rap music and Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" in "Lil' Women: A Rap Musical."

In "22 Boom!," eight actors will perform 24 plays in just 70 minutes, including a new play that will be written for each performance. "How to Give Birth to a Rabbit" is based on the true story of Mary Toft, who tricked doctors into believing she gave birth to rabbits in 1726.

Ever wonder what happened to Amelia Earhart? Check out a comedy play about a play where Earhart's plane crashes on Neptune in "Amelia Earhart... IN SPACE!"

Other performances include "Fat Kids Are Harder to Kidnap," "The Computer That Loved" and "Macbeth in the Basement." You can see the list of performances here.

Tickets to each show are $17, and you also need a $7 Fringe Button to get in. Although the festival ends in July, Capital Fringe will showcase performances through December.
