Amazon Expands Same-Day Delivery Service in D.C.

The popular website has extended its same-day delivery service to D.C.

Tired of anxiously waiting for your Amazon goods to arrive on your porch?

Amazon's new "Get it today" option has you covered.

On Wednesday, the e-commerce site rolled out a new filter, allowing users to search specifically for items that can be delivered same-day. Customers who place their orders before 1 p.m. will receive them by 9 p.m. -- even on Sundays.

Same-day delivery has been available in D.C. since 2009, but Amazon has made millions of additional items now eligible for the service.

Items that can now be delivered same-day include new video game and movie releases, travel items, home essentials, craft and office supplies and tools.

Parents facing the woes of back-to-school shopping will especially benefit from the service -- Amazon is offering an entire selection of school supplies, including textbooks, pencils, glue and more.

Have younger kids? Amazon will also deliver baby wipes, diaper pail refills and infant formula.

Prime members can order as many same-day deliveries as they want for a $5.99 charge. For non-Prime members, there is a $9.98 fee for the first item and $0.99 fee for each additional item.

The site also offers a "Get it Tomorrow" filter, that allows users to see millions of additional items that can be delivered by the next day.
