Paula Abdul Inks Deal for New TV Gig

"I am so excited!" Abdul wrote on her Twitter page.

Paula Abdul, fresh off her split from "American Idol," has inked a deal to host a new show.

The singer-turned-TV personality signed her first post-"Idol" deal and will host the VH1 concert special "Divas,"slated to air on Sept. 17.

"I am so excited!" Abdul wrote on her Twitter page.

The star-studded diva lineup will feature performances from Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis and others. "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks will also perform.

The "Straight Up" singer made a name for herself as a judge on the popular FOX reality show but said early this month she wasn't going to return for a ninth season of the show.

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return," Abdul said on her Twitter page. "I'll mis nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from Day 1 become an international phenomenon."

The singer reportedly insisted on a contract with "Idol" worth between $12 million and $20 million but was only offered $4 million, a source told the Associated Press. It's unclear how much she is earning for the VH1 gig.

The search for Paula's replacement on "Idol" is still ongoing.
