Katie Couric arrives at the "Stand Up To Cancer" television event at Sony Studios in Culver City, Calif., on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. The fundraising event aimed to raise funds for cancer research was simulcast live on several network and cable television stations.

Katie Couric is a natural in front of the teleprompter, but could the CBS Evening News anchor keep the rhythm of a waltz or the fluid footwork of the quick step?

Couric thinks she could:  "My secret fantasy, sadly, is to be on Dancing With the Stars," she told US Magazine

But the 53-year-old mother of two was not completely convinced she was ready to go from the newsroom to the ballroom.

"I don't know, those skimpy outfits!" said Couric.  "Seriously, it'd be like, 'Paging Jenny Craig, stat!'"

Couric's other reservation about competing on Dancing With the Stars was joining the ranks of reality TV stars like Kate Gosselin and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino.

"I really don't understand the whole genre to be honest with you," she added about reality TV.  "You know, God love them if they're willing to invite people into every aspect of their personal life."

If Couric never puts on her dancing shows, maybe she just found out her next investigative report:  reality TV stars.
