"The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart had a classic "Old Man Fight" during Tuesday's episode between former Vice President Dick Cheney and former presidential candidate John McCain.
In Tuesday's episode of "The Daily Show," host Jon Stewart pitted former Vice President Dick Cheney against former presidential candidate John McCain in a faux head to head, where they disagreed on issues such as Sarah Palin and the use of torture.
“Right now we got ourselves a classic Old Man Fight,” the late night host declared.
What started this tussle between the former Vice President and the former Republican presidential candidate?
None other than Sarah Palin.
In an interview with ABC, Cheney suggested that McCain’s decision to choose Palin as his running mate was a mistake.
“I think that was one of the problems McCain had,” Cheney said in the interview. “I don’t think she passed that test of being ready to take over, and I think that was a mistake.”
“Did you just call out John McCain?” asked an incredulous Stewart. “Well, you just woke up a cranky giant my friend.”
Stewart proceeded to show clips of McCain and Cheney hurling verbal barbs at each other during separate interviews.
In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” McCain responded to Cheney’s remarks.
“I respect the VP, he and I had strong disagreements as to whether we should torture people and I don’t think we should have,” McCain said.
After two rounds of verbal dueling, Stewart proclaimed McCain the winner of the “Old Man Fight.”
“McCain not only played the torture card, he licked the back of that card and stuck it on Cheney’s forehead so that you can see him play it,” Stewart said. “That is a knock out!”
