“Bachelor” Faces Racial Discrimination Lawsuit

Two African-American men claim "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" are guilty of excluding people of color.

Two African-American men plan to file a lawsuit against ABC television and the producer of the popular reality dating programs "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" charging racial discrimination, Reuters reported.

The class action suit, slated to be filed in federal court on Wednesday, is being brought by a pair of residents of Nashville, Tenn., who contend the shows intentionally exclude people of color.

Nathaniel Claybrooks, an All-American football player, and Christopher Johnson, an aspiring National Football League player, will argue that in the ten years the shows have aired on ABC — a combined 23 seasons of television — neither has ever featured a person of color in a central role, according to a statement from the attorneys.

The lawsuit is set to be filed against ABC television, Warner Horizon television, Next Entertainment, NZK Productions, and Michael Fleiss, the executive producer of both long-running franchies.

According to Reuters, ABC could not be immediately reached for comment.
