Former “News Radio” Star David Foley Can't Go Back to Canada

The comedian faces arrest for unpaid child support

The sketch comedy series "The Kids in the Hall" is something of a Canadian cultural institution. Too bad one of its biggest break-out stars can't go home again.

In an interview on Mark Maron's "WTF" podcast, David Foley - who lept from "Kids"  into starring roles on the hit sitcom "News Radio," the Pixar smash "A Bug's Life" and, most recently, a guest turn on "Desperate Housewives" - revealed that he faces possible arrest if he ever sets foot in Canada again.

The reason? Unpaid child support.

"I'm happy to give away half my money, that would be great," Foley told Maron. "But I'm literally obligated to give away 400 percent of my income, or otherwise go to jail."

"The judge even said, if I was paralyzed from the neck down, I would still be responsible for having to earn a million dollars a year. I don't think I would take to jail well."

Foley has two children, ages 18 and 15, with his first wife Tabatha Southey. Southey and Foley divorced in 1997 after six years of marriage.

Foley also has a daughter with his second wife, Crissy Guerrero, whom he divorced in 2008.

In 2007, Foley attempted to have his child support payments modified since he had not found steady work since "News Radio" ended in 1999. An Ontario judge allegedly refused the request.

CBS recently announced that Foley has been tapped to star in a new pilot called "How to Be a Gentleman," so perhaps there's some light at the end of the tunnel for the comedy star.
