Brooke Burke Confirms Screen Test For ‘Dancing With The Stars' Co-Host Gig

A new contender has emerged in the battle to become Tom Bergeron's "Dancing with the Stars" co-host – Season 7 winner Brooke Burke.

The brunette beauty confirmed she is a contender to replace Samantha Harris, who announced her departure from the show earlier this year.

"btw, the news about me hosting DWTS is true. I am screen testing next week for the job, fingers crossed!" Brooke wrote on her Twitter on Wednesday. "It would be amazing 2 be back!"

Brooke has plenty of television hosting experience. She previously helmed the hosting mic for CBS' "Rockstar: INXS" and "Rockstar: Supernova," which helped both groups find lead singers. She also spent years hosting "Wild On" on E!

"Dancing" returns to ABC in March and the show has made no announcement about Samantha's replacement, but according to reports – including one from E! last Friday — three women are in the running including Nick Lachey's main squeeze Vanessa Minillo and former "Dancing" finalist, ex "Bachelor" beauty Melissa Rycroft.

Like Brooke, Melissa has some "DWTS" experience. She stepped in last minute during Season 8, when Access Hollywood alumna Nancy O'Dell had to leave the competition due to a torn meniscus.

Nancy has also been rumored to take the "Dancing" job, but her publicist recently told Zap2it that the rumors were speculation.

Last week, E! had reported that yet another blonde presenter, Ashlan Gorse (a former Access Hollywood employee), was a rumored candidate. Ashlan would not comment to the Web site on the rumor.
